Frizz is never fun to deal with and it’s a common hair concern for us here in Florida. One of the root causes for frizzy hair on a hot, humid, summer day is that your hair really needs hydration. When your hair is not properly hydrated, the cuticle opens to seek out moisture from the air, which contributes to the look of frizzy hair. Alternatively, when hair is properly hydrated, the cuticle will lay flat and smooth.
The good news? We have multiple solutions for taming frizzy, fly-away hair!
Trim Regularly
Haircuts are a must is you're looking to reduce frizz! As our hair grows, the ends lack moisture and split as we brush, use hot tools, and style our hair every day. Keeping up on regular haircuts or trims will ensure the health of your hair and prevent damage.
Keep the Showers Warm
Hot showers are absolutely the most relaxing part of the day. The only problem is that they’re also the most damaging part of the day. Lower your shower temperature just a bit to prevent hair damage and help repair frizzy hair. When the temperature is too high, the hair cuticle will expand more than it should, which contributes to frizzier, drier hair.
The Right Products Make All the Difference
What are you using at home to maintain your hair's health? We believe strongly in the products we offer that help address your particular needs. Ask us for a customized home-care prescription and make sure that what you're using at home is best suited for you.
Try Silk or Microfiber Linens
You might not realize it, but your beloved pillowcase can cause friction during the night. Friction causes frizz, so in lieu of a regular pillowcase, try silk or satin. Another option you can consider replacing is your regular hair towel. Instead of a terry cloth towel, try a microfiber towel and see the difference it makes.
Don't skip the in-salon treatments
If you regularly color or lighten your hair, we highly recommend our customized in-salon treatments during your salon visit. The high-powered treatments address a variety of hair ailments, from dryness and frizz to shine and color protection.
Embrace the Curls
When the humidity is high, try letting your curls do their thing, naturally. We love our curly guests, and want to help you embrace your natural texture. Why fight it? Try a customized curly cut and compliment your look with the home-care products best suited to your hair texture.
